About the Pub

Former Charrington pub, was the Scotch Stores in years gone by, from 1993 Greene King, now free of tie since being acquired by Pubs of Distinction. Substantial Grade 2 Listed five-storey building with quite decorative stone trims, red ground floor frontage, granite columns. Not that big inside, mostly plain decor, but a fancy dark wood bar-back. Busy enough, relaxed atmosphere, mix of types after work. Now decent for beer. Apart from the two changing real ales, draught lagers etc included Kernel Pale Ale, Maisels Weisse, Redchurch Great Eastern IPA, Redwell Pale Ale, Schremser, Windsor & Eton Republika. Bottled beers were similarly a mix of London micros and continental names, e.g. Chimay, Five Points (3), Kwak, Shoreditch (3).
