Notice: Many venues are affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and need your support more than ever. Please be aware that restrictions apply in many areas so opening hours may be different to those displayed here, and some venues may be yet to re-open at all. Before visiting, we strongly advise you to call or check its website or social media to avoid disappointment.

Venues in Scotland are subject to special restrictions, which vary across the country. In the Central Belt (Including Arran and parts of the Southern Highlands) all pubs and most other licensed premises will be closed but may still be offering takeaway services. In other areas they can open but can only serve food and non-alcoholic drinks inside from 6.00am to 6.00pm. Alcoholic drinks can however be served in outside areas until 10.00pm. These restrictions will be in place until Monday 2 November.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub

Set in the main street of a quiet Borders village, owners David & Sarah McLean have transformed this formerly ailing pub into a charming family-run inn.

The bar has light wood flooring and are is decorated and furnished to give a bright, modern and welcoming appearance. A massive clock dominates the fireplace in the bar. Third of a pint glasses are available for cask ales.

Food is served in the bar where a cafe style snack menu is available at lunchtimes, except for Sunday when there's a full roast oriented menu. There's a full menu with specials every evening (when open) and the pub also offers a takeaway fish and chips service on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The local bus service is sporadic to say the least; best to get someone to drive, or come by horse and use the hitching rings at the front of the pub! There are also secure arrangements for cycles.

CAMRA SE Scotland Real Ale Quality Award winner 2018 and third place in CAMRA Borders Pub of the Year 2020 competition.

The inn is open all week for accommodation and opens at 7.30 for the sale of papers and other produce.

NOTE: Opening hours may extend in Summer. May closed at 9pm if no customers in bar.
