About the Pub

Named after Simon Rutherford, the owner, this tiny shop conversion was the first micropub in Scotland. There’s no TV, piped music or keg beers, its ethos is come in and enjoy friendly conversation or one of the many board games, though it doesn’t take many drinkers to become crowded!

Real ales are drawn right from the casks which are open to view on a gantry behind the bar. One-third pint taster paddles are available. There’s a selection of foreign bottled beers as well as specialist whiskies, gins and wines.

A short but interesting menu (no hot food) offering a selection of pies and cheeses from local artisan producers is available all day.

Because of its uniqueness, this is a “must visit” pub that was runner up in CAMRA Borders Pub of the Year 2019 awards.

NOTE: Winter hours operate from October to March.
