Venues in Scotland are subject to special restrictions, which vary across the country. In the Central Belt (Including Arran and parts of the Southern Highlands) all pubs and most other licensed premises will be closed but may still be offering takeaway services. In other areas they can open but can only serve food and non-alcoholic drinks inside from 6.00am to 6.00pm. Alcoholic drinks can however be served in outside areas until 10.00pm. These restrictions will be in place until Monday 2 November.

The Visitors Centre and shop reopened officially on 15th October under the Born in Scotland brand ( lunch bookings via Still supplying stores with bottled beers, notably Co-op and Morrisons. The online shop is open for business with deliveries delivered by Parcelforce.


Meanwhile, the brewery has recommenced brewing for cask, with Foxy Blonde and Gamebird the first of their core ales ready from July. The brewery's own pub, the Ancrum Cross Keys reopened on Friday 7th. August.

About the Pub

WARNING: Cask ale only available for pre-booked groups. Full range of bottled beers always available but these are not bottle conditioned (RAIB).

The visitor centre for the Born in the Borders brewery which has been very sympathetically and rustically put together. Entrance is free and apart from the shopping and restaurant opportunities plus the Lilliard Gin Distillery (acquired 2019) there are riverside walks, an open air terrace and various activities for kids including bug and bird spotting, glass sledging, a pirate ship and winter skating . Brewery tours are available on request with pre-booking advised.
