About the Pub

This warm and welcoming Grade II-listed three-room Victorian pub remains almost unaltered since it was built in 1899. The quaint decor, coal fires, cosy snug and a genuine Victorian cash drawer help create an olde-worlde feel. Ales are mainly from local breweries and there's a wide selection of single malt whiskeys as well as whiskies on display. No meals are served but toasties are available. Voted local CAMRA Town Pub of the Year for the ninth time in 2017. This pub has been in the same family for 40 years and is very popular with locals, students and visitors to the city.
