Notice: Many venues are affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and need your support more than ever. Please be aware that restrictions apply in many areas so opening hours may be different to those displayed here, and some venues may be yet to re-open at all. Before visiting, we strongly advise you to call or check its website or social media to avoid disappointment.

Venues in Scotland are subject to special restrictions, which vary across the country. In the Central Belt (Including Arran and parts of the Southern Highlands) all pubs and most other licensed premises will be closed but may still be offering takeaway services. In other areas they can open but can only serve food and non-alcoholic drinks inside from 6.00am to 6.00pm. Alcoholic drinks can however be served in outside areas until 10.00pm. These restrictions are initially imposed until Monday 26th October 2020.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub

The Clachan has a reputation for excellent food, cosy, well-equipped bedrooms and a welcoming atmosphere.

It is the Local CAMRA Dumfries & Stewartry Branch Pub of the Year 2019.

The menu is varied with excellent daily specials and the kitchen makes use of local produce including organic lamb and venison. The pub has an attractive traditional main bar, a relaxing lounge bar and a separate restaurant - both bars have wonderfully warming open log fires in winter. A handy stop for walkers on the Southern Upland Way.

There is a limited daytime bus service to Castle Douglas from Monday to Saturday. Twice a day there is a connecting service to Ayr via Dalmellington. There is no bus service on Sunday.

Winter opening hours may vary particularly on Mondays.
