About the Pub

The Plough is a rambling atmospheric pub with distinctive wooden furniture and a rather more genuine collection of bric-a-brac than a theme pub would have. It is said to have been built in 1750 on the site of a gallows, and has the obligatory ghost! The Battle of Rowton Moor in the English Civil War took place nearby. Disabled visitors will appreciate the designated parking spaces, the ramps and toilets. There is a wide range of all day meals. There are two open fires and a fantastic tiny snug. Overall, the Plough is a very good example of a food-based rural pub. 3 real ales 2 of which are guests, the licensee is restricted to a list.
