NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever as they recover following the pandemic.

COVID restrictions are no longer a legal requirement in pubs and clubs, but please be aware that many venues will choose to keep some measures in place for the safety of customers and staff.

Opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting updates on the pub.

About the Pub

This is a Victorian street corner local whose three rooms include a snug. Flags, enamel signs and other memorabilia from the First World War are on display, including patriotic posters and part of an old wooden aircraft propeller. An open fire in a tiled fireplace in the snug keeps the chill away, and when this room is used for diners in the evenings, the tables are candle-lit to provide atmosphere. Some of the more unusual artefacts include old 78 records in a display case, and illuminated "Shell" petrol pump tops over the bar. Chocoholics will be particularly taken by the large enamel advertising sign for Fry's chocolate. Many of the tables are converted from treadle sewing machines. The Albion is inevitably popular with tourists thanks to its position adjacent to the City Walls. The food includes home-cooked dishes, please check their website for serving times. Bed and breakfast is now available in two comfortable ensuite rooms.

The Albion was the first Chester city centre pub to be listed as an Asset of Community Value after an application by the branch.
