About the Pub

Michael Roughead, the landlord of more than 15 years, passed away suddenly in April 2020.

The future of the pub is uncertain, but it is unlikely that it will reopen in its current form.

Grade II listed former coaching inn with the oldest bits dating back to the 17th century. The entrance opens into the main bar which has sports shown on two large TVs along the back wall. There is a separate pool room, which is also used for hosting local youth team, British Legion meetings and other functions. At the back there is a car park, beer garden and smoking area.

The pub has a strong community involvement, supporting local charities and sports teams. There are resident darts, pool and p├ętanque teams. They are also home to a Saturday League football club. There is a pub quiz every Thursday night.

The ale range normally consists of a blonde beer, a bitter and a dark beer sourced from a variety of smaller local and regional breweries, such as Grain, Nene Valley, Church End, Nethergate and Crafty. There are occasional meet the brewer events.

Cambridge & District CAMRA Community (rural) Pub of the Year 2018 and Dark Beer Pub of the Year 2020.
