NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis. At this time, hospitality venues in England are not allowed to open but can operate takeaway and delivery services, providing that any takeaway alcohol is pre-ordered. Details of takeaway and delivery services may appear on this page if we become aware of them.

Before visiting any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

Although the pub is currently closed, the Leatherbritches Brewery on the same site is offering takeaways and home deliveries of cask ale.
Beers available in 6 pint, 18 pint and 36 pint 'bag-in-a-box'.

About the Pub

This friendly local, dating back to the 19th century and a former Ind Coope pub, has been a privately-owned free house since 1985. The busy main bar, with its beamed ceiling, is at the front of the pub, beyond which is a restaurant which features a popular carvery.

Pie night Wednesday. Live music some Friday evenings.

Multi-level beer garden at rear comprising patios (part covered) and lawn, with some comfy garden seating under cover, plus picnic tables elsewhere; barbeque facilities; enclosed children’s play area. A semi-permanent marquee houses a pool table and projector TV. Additional small patio, with picnic tables, at front.

Accommodation is in Forest Court (an associated business) next door.

Historic Interest

Reportedly converted into a pub from 4 separate commercial premises in the 19th-century. Previously known as the Malt Shovel when an Ind Coope house, then Mother Hubbards (after mother of new owner) after being bought privately in 1985. Subsequently re-named the Annwell Inn in 2000 by a new lessee, then becoming the Tap House after being bought by the current owner in 2006.
