NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis. At this time, hospitality venues in England are not allowed to open but can operate takeaway and delivery services, providing that any takeaway alcohol is pre-ordered. Details of takeaway and delivery services may appear on this page if we become aware of them.

Before visiting any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub

A Micropub that is decked out to look like a school with library wallpaper and tables and stools that will take you back to your old art room days. A free standing roller blackboard is reguarly updated with information about events such as Meet the Brewer, French Conversation evenings and weekly performances by local musicians. The pub has developed into a welcoming, lively and popular part of the Westhoughton community. There is a small but luxurious meeting room upstairs and a quaint beer garden at the rear. Dogs are made very welcome. Note that the toilets are upstairs. The 'cellar' is on view behind the bar, serving four handpumps with local beers and some from further afield. There is usually a mix of beer styles and strengths. You can try before you buy and staff are keen and knowledgable. Up to four bag-in-box ciders are available and sometimes keg-conditioned cider from the fonts. The choice includes some of the best cider producers in the country such as Little Pomona and Udders Orchard. Large racks display canned and bottled beers and ciders, some of these chilled. The owner and manager is ABCQ Cask Marque trained in Cellar Management. She often travels to meet brewers and cider producers around the country and returns with beer and cider goodies. Bolton Branch Pub of the Year 2018 and Summer Pub of the Season 2019.
