About the Pub
Locally known as the No Name, this pub was registered with its unique title when its first publican went to apply for a licence. Asked for the name of the house, he is reported to have replied "It has no name." It is a cosy terraced venue made from two cottages which were originally built in the 1830s. Flag floors are retained in some areas, but it has been sensitively modernised and recently refurbished. On the left as you enter is a small bar while straight on leads to the lounge which now has a real fire. On this side is a blackboard listing the real ales on offer. There are two regular beers from the Punch List and four guest beers of the landlords choice, these are generally from local and regional breweries and he has also been using social media to ask customers their preferences. He makes an effort to ensure there is a good range of styles of beer, including pale ales, blondes, bitters and milds or stouts on the bar at any one time and the quality is top notch. Simple bar food is available during opening hours. There is a quiz night on Monday. At August bank holiday, the pub hosts a popular Beer Festival when a temporary bar is squeezed in and up to 20 beers are on offer from all over the country. There are three HD TVs, with one large screen in the lounge and all premium sports channels are available.
