NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Under this stage of the roadmap in England pubs can only open outdoor areas and many will only be open for customers who have pre-booked. Alcohol can now also be sold for takeaway, as well as delivery.

But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

Pub is reopening outside on April 12th. Contact Pub for details of their Covid arrangements.

About the Pub

Reopening for drinks on July 4th and 5th, food as well on July 6th -read Facebook Covid requirements first

A 300 year old Village pub where one can stand on the old pack horse bridge opposite and watch the River Irwell slowly meandering along. The Horseshoe's earliest definitive reference to Pub Licensing records is for 1761. The Pub was a scheduled stop for all Manchester-bound packets on the canal, which used to run by the side of the building. Here, packets were left for local delivery, and the landlord gladly served ale to the thirsty passengers before they continued on their journey. Often busy for food orientated customers. Last orders is 1 hour before closing time. The pub had a re-furb May 2017 and has an area to the right of the front entrance reserved for drinkers to have a quiet pint and chat whilst those wishing to dine use the rest of the pub. A log burner has been installed in the front room as well as a real open fire in the other room. There are a few seats at the front of the pub which are well used in the warmer days when one can enjoy the views and listen to the River Irwell passing by. The Kingfisher Trail in the Croal Irwell Valley and the Rotary Way both run along the side of the Pub.
