About the Pub

Situated in the centre of Wigtown, this pub and restaurant has re-opened with a wider appeal to locals and visitors alike. They offer one cask ale at a very competative price, and in peak season a second ale is sold at weekends when the pub is busy and most of the trade occurs. The hotel has re-opened it's accomodation and has numerous room options on a B and B basis. An improved menu of traditional and local food is offered in the evenings, with lunch only on a Saturday. Craft beer was previously sold and this continues using mainly Brewdog and Theakstons as supply. Wigtown is Scotlands National Book town. It is is well placed to explore local attractions of the Machars and coastal villages and the Cradle of Christianity in Whithorn.

There is a big effort to promote local music, and Tuesday pm hosts the 'Acoustic Club' and Saturday live music attracts some good local and 'other' acts.
