Notice: Many venues are affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and need your support more than ever. Please be aware that restrictions apply in many areas so opening hours may be different to those displayed here, and some venues may be yet to re-open at all. Before visiting, we strongly advise you to call or check its website or social media to avoid disappointment.

Venues in Scotland are subject to special restrictions, which vary across the country. In the Central Belt (Including Arran and parts of the Southern Highlands) all pubs and most other licensed premises will be closed but may still be offering takeaway services. In other areas they can open but can only serve food and non-alcoholic drinks inside from 6.00am to 6.00pm. Alcoholic drinks can however be served in outside areas until 10.00pm. These restrictions are initially imposed until Monday 26th October 2020.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub

Housed in the former manse of reformist minister David Smeaton, a contemporary of Robert Burns, this classic country pub and restaurant has a tiled floor, stone walls and a wood-burning fire. It sits beside the Jougs, a former jailhouse and tollbooth. Two handpumps dispense ale from a rotating list of local breweries. The pub holds regular live music and quiz nights. Both the restaurant and bar areas were fully re-furbished in 2016. East Ayrshire pub of the year 2019.
