Updates

Open again July 4th. Please note that pubs will not be able to offer the same services and facilities that they usually do, due to Government guidelines regarding making pubs Covid-secure. We recommend checking with each pub’s online presence before visiting for the first time. Please support the hospitality trade responsibly by showing patience and following Government guidance for your own safety, and that of pub staff, customers and the wider community.

About the Pub

Venerable & much loved free house tucked away in a lane a ten minute walk from the city centre & from Temple Meads train station. For many years one of Bristol's premier ale houses, it serves by handpull 8 beers of all styles & strengths & there are real cider as well. A generous CAMRA discount is available, & Beeriodicals are a feature, held on the first Monday to Thursday of every month, when up to 20 beers from a different county are available. There is an outdoor seating area adjacent to The Fleece music venue, a rock-oriented jukebox & a pool table. Sunday afternoons feature quality live acoustic music. No food is served but you may bring in your own. See the informative plaque outside for information on how the pub featured in the 18th century anti-slavery campaign.
