About the Pub

The site used to be a pub over 100 years ago, The Albion. Subsequently became a micropub, The Northern Seaman, from 2016 until June 2018. In its latest incarnation the name was chosen as the owners discovered a dead pigeon whilst decorating the pub. On opening day re-invented as a sports bar, 19th October 2018, four ales were on sale served by gravity from a temperature controlled cellar up two stairs at the back. Two televisions are mounted on the walls but are at a low volume so certainly not disturbing conversation. Seating is at bar stools or high tables and stools on the main bar floor. Normal height seating is on the raised area to the rear, which may also double as a stage for events. Quiz night is Monday. Card payments accepted. There is a single handpump on the bar counter. Otherwise beer is sold on keg, and from KeyKegs, cans and bottles. An overhead screen scrolls through the full beer offering with prices shown. There is a range of wines and spirits available too. Food is primarily pizza oriented. The owners bought the Flippin' Frog micropub in summer 2020 and currently uses that as their main kitchen and food collection point. Reported early September 2021 that cask ale is no longer available here.
